Like in our spiritual lives, transparency in business is rooted in honesty and openness. It means making decisions and communicating clearly, honestly, and forthrightly, even when it’s difficult. This practice builds trust with customers, employees, and partners and honors God, reflecting His truth in our professional lives.

Transparent communication offers a refreshing contrast in a world of skepticism toward corporate motives. It tells the world that as followers of Christ, we hold ourselves to a higher standard that values people over profit and integrity over immediate gain. This approach not only draws people to our business but also to the values we stand for.

Let’s be real: Transparency can be challenging. It requires humility and the courage to admit mistakes. It demands that we share our successes, struggles, and failures. Yet, in this vulnerability, we find strength, echoing Jesus’ example of humility and truthfulness.

  2. Open Dialogue: Foster an environment where feedback is welcomed and valued within your team and with your customers.

  4. Ethical Decision-Making: Make decisions that align with Christian ethics, even if they’re not the easiest or most profitable route. (Geybels, 2009)

Transparent communication is more than just a good policy; it’s a way of life for the faithful follower of Christ in the business world. It challenges business norms as usual, offering a testament to the transformative power of living out our faith in every aspect of life. As we commit to transparency, we become, as (Matthew 5:14) says, “the light of the world—a town built on a hill” that cannot be hidden. In doing so, we build trust and credibility for our businesses and bear witness to the enduring truth and love of Jesus Christ in the marketplace.
